Education for Hope

Education for HOPE (EFH) is a 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization that is organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. EFH seeks to promote education in Africa as a pathway out of poverty and toward better well-being. We believe that education is a fundamental human right, to be realized by all children, regardless of their socioeconomic background. Our focus is on providing basic school supplies for students, ensuring availability of books for school libraries, as well as supporting repairs and renovation of dilapidated schools. EFH also funds scholarships for promising students with greatest need. Presently, EFH is operating in Sierra Leone where we aim to influence education policies through advocacy, partnerships, and collaborations with governmental and non-governmental institutions.

Sierra Leone experienced a devastating, decade-long war that left many critical infrastructures, including the educational system, in ruins. Education for HOPE is fueled with a passion to ensure that all children have access to primary education – and develop the ability to read and write.

By promoting educational awareness, empowering people in local communities to be education stewards, and by strengthening the effectiveness of community stakeholders, we believe that we can help to provide a foundation for sustainable educational development and end the generational cycle of poverty.

Education is the key to economic success, poverty alleviation, gender equality, human growth, and better health. Consider the following statistic:

“According to the Global Campaign for Education, if all children received a complete primary education, as many as 700,000 cases of HIV could be prevented each year.”

An inextricable link exists between education and well-being.
