Jerry Sandamahun Savalie has always believed in the value of education and of lending a helping hand to the underprivileged, especially children. His parents instilled these values in him; they adopted children from unfortunate backgrounds and made sure they were loved, and cared for, and provided them with the needs of life to be a productive citizen.
He started his primary schooling at an early age and excelled. He attended the Njala University College International Primary School and later the St. Edwards Primary and Secondary schools. He then continued to further his education at International Technology Holdings (AITH), where he earned a Diploma in PC Hardware Engineering. He later pursued higher education at the University of Sierra Leone (FBC), earning a Bachelor of Arts General degree in English Language and Political Science.
In his volunteer work, he has tutored children with learning challenges and taught at the Catholic Women’s Adult Literacy School. During his college years, he worked as an Administrative Officer for the National Network Psychosocial Care (NNEPCA), as a Census Enumerator for the 2004 census, and also in the role of Assistant News Editor for the African Chronicle Newspaper. Upon graduation, he served as the Program Officer for Graceland Counseling Services until his resignation to serve as Education for Hope’s Country Coordinator.
In his capacity as Sierra Leone Country Coordinator, he is tasked with implementing programs and initiatives, meeting with partners (governmental and non-governmental organizations), managing activities and operations, providing status reports, developing and managing budget activities, conducting programs analysis and making recommendations on new programs development and managing volunteer staff.
Jerry is hoping to pursue a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) as well as a law degree. Aside from his philanthropic endeavors and educational pursuits, Jerry has a passion for music. He writes and produces songs and has worked with and assisted numerous up-and-coming artists to achieve their dreams.
